Navigate All the New Year Goal

A quick mail to help you navigate all the New Year Goal setting bla bla.

We don’t need to wait until the new year to set goals. The truth is, we set goals every single day, whether we realise it or not. Have you ever…

  • Set an alarm to wake up at a specific time
  • Entered in a destination into google maps or GPS
  • Paid a bill before the due date
  • Set an appointment in your calendar to attend a meeting at a certain time
  • Made it to the airport on time to catch a flight
  • Remembered to buy a birthday gift for someone special

These are all examples of setting goals, which by definition is ‘The object of a persons ambition or effort.’

Do we achieve these goals easy and effortlessly? Sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t. So what’s the difference that makes the difference?

We’ve all heard about SMART goals, so there is no need to discuss what we already know. Today, I’d like to share with you Four Simple Tips for Achieving Your Goals Faster.

Tip#1 – Engage Your Subconscious Mind – Most SMART goals, whether personal or as part of the organisation, is a Conscious Process. We think about the goal, brainstorm the goal, agree some actions, then place them on a shelf, or close them up in a diary, to gather dust. In other words, we never see them again. To engage your subconscious mind, which is 95% of your functioning brain ‘power’, you must focus on your goal, and you must focus on it repeatedly. Ideally, every day!! That way, you begin to program your subconscious mind to come up with new exciting ways, to literally PULL your goal towards you.

Tip#2 – Make it Important – Have you noticed that achieving the goal of ‘getting to the airport on time’ is easier than achieving the goal of ‘getting out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off’? WHY?? Because it’s important. You CAN’T miss that flight. Why do you get to the meeting with the boss ON TIME….because it’s important. Be sure to make your goal important, and you will magically find ways to achieve it. Simply make a list of all the reasons WHY achieving that goal is important, and you’ll be happily surprised with the extra motivation you will create.

Tip#3 – Review Your Previous Successes – Often, in the busy-ness of Life, we forget to acknowledge our wins. We keep forging forward and pushing towards the next outcome. Additional motivation can be found by taking a breath, and reviewing your last 6-12 month successes. Reminding yourself of those successes will elevate your emotion, increase your motivation, and will even give you additional clues to the successful strategies that you used in the past, to achieve your goals.

Tip#4 – Get out of Your Comfort Zone – I’m sure we’ve all heard it before…”If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got” . Most of the time, the goal we want to achieve is something new, something bigger, something better. So by that definition, we MUST do something different to achieve it. The Comfort Zone is probably more accurately described as the Familiar Zone. Continuing to do what is familiar, or the same, will produce the same results. So get out there, be bold, be brave, and take new actions to achieve all of your goals.

Remember, we set goals, and achieve them, every single day. Apply these simple principles, and you’ll be surprised on how easily and effortlessly you can achieve more of your goals. We look forward to co-create an amazing 2020 with you !!
